Chateau Thierry to Maizy
Sunday
You will be met by our guide at the hotel, and escorted via private motorcoach to the PRINCESS's mooring in Château-Thierry. Champagne reception and Welcome Dinner on board.
Monday
After a short morning cruise, visit the American Cemetery and World War I battlefields at Belleau Wood. Afternoon cruise through the vineyards along the winding Marne Valley to the overnight mooring in Cumières.
Tuesday
In the morning, visit the village of Hautvillers. Afterward, drive to Epernay, the capital of Champagne. Tour the vast cellars of Moët & Chandon, followed by a champagne tasting on the property. Afternoon cruise to Tours-sur-Marne.
Wednesday
Morning cruise on the Canal de l’Aisne à la Marne. Afternoon champagne tasting and tour of the family-owned House of Ployez Jacquemart. Evening mooring in Sillery. Dinner ashore at the Michelin-starred restaurant, Les Crayères, in Reims.
Thursday
After an early morning cruise and lunch on board, take a walking tour of Reims, the Coronation City of French Kings, including the magnificent Gothic Cathedral, and time for browsing local shops on your own. Return to PRINCESS moored in Courcy.
Friday
Morning cruise on the Canal Lateral à l'Aisne. After lunch, drive to the hilltop city of Laon, where narrow medieval streets and handsome houses are still enclosed by original 13th century ramparts. Return to PRINCESS moored in Maizy, for the festive Captain’s Dinner on board.
Saturday
Depart the PRINCESS at 9:30 AM via private transfer to the return point hotel in Paris, arriving by approximately 12:00 Noon.

Elisabeth
Tanlay to Veneray-Les-Laumes
We transfer you from Paris at 2:00 PM. Enjoy a relaxing and scenic drive to the delightful
chateau village of Tanlay where the Elisabeth is moored. Settle in after a Champagne reception and then take a stroll around the village. We start our chocolate extravaganza with tonight’s glorious dessert.

This morning we will cruise to Ancy le Franc where we will visit a chateau, beautifully restored and a real to delight to explore. Back on board we have wine tasting of the local tonneroise wines.
Today we cruise is to Ravierres and here we will depart for a pleasant drive through the villages of Chablis for a wine tasting and tour of a chocolaterie to hear the history of and more importantly taste the chocolate Pillars of Chablis. Return to the Elisabeth via medieval Noyer, one of the top five picturesque villages of France.
Today starts with a leisurely cruise to Montbard. From here we will go to Eppoisse for a cheese visit and a wine tasting. For those that are interested we can arrange a cooking demonstration today. Back to the Elisabeth for dinner and our second enchanting dessert.
This morning we will start to notice the climb up the valley to Veneray les Laumes. The
cruising just gets more lovely as we go. Our visit this afternoon is to The Abbey de Fontenay,
a Unesco world heritage site. This wonderful abbey is the last complete cistercian monastery
left in France. Tranquility and beauty describe it perfectly. When we return to the Elisabeth
our talented chef will give a demonstration on the preparation of tiny chocolate petit fours.
Our last cruise takes us to Pouillenay, a climb up the fabulous views over the countryside. We finish our week with a lunch and walking tour of the village Flavigny (where ‘chocolat’ the movie was made) and candies have been produced since the 9th Century. From here we will drive the short distance to Alesia to see the site of the last great battle between the Romans and the Gaules. The Roman ruins and amphitheater date back to 345 B.C. Returning to Elisabeth in time for relaxatinv before Captains dinner and our last chocolate feast.
This morning we return to Paris after breakfast for your onward journey.

Ravieres to St Florentin
Sunday: Welcome to C'est la Vie!
Paris to the "C'est la Vie" moored in Ravières
Your party will be met in Paris at 3pm by our driver and driven to the "C'est la Vie" which is moored in the town of Ravières. A traditional champagne welcome and introduction to the crew awaits you, before your first gourmet dinner aboard.
Monday: Sightseeing Abbey of Fontenay - Cruise to Ancy le Franc
Morning cruise to the village of Ancy le Franc, which will allow you time to walk off breakfast of locally baked croissants and other pastries. After a buffet lunch you will be driven to the Cistercian Abbey of Fontenay founded by St Bernard. Dating back to the 12th Century it is listed on the Unesco World Heritage site.
Returning to the "C'est La Vie" for dinner.
Tuesday: Sightseeing Chateau of Ancy la Franc - Cruise to Lézinnes: Dinner ashore at Hostellerie des Clos.
You can walk or be driven for this mornings visit to the gorgeous Renaissance chateau of Ancy le Franc. Renowned for its 16th-century wall paintings and frescos (which are said to rival Fontainebleau), Ancy-le-Franc has been extensively and sensitively renovated. Return to the "C'est La Vie" for lunch and an afternoon cruise to Lézinnes from where you will be driven to the village of Chablis for your dinner ashore at the charming restaurant Hostellerie des Clos.
Wednesday: Sightseeing Noyers with its local market - Cruise to Tanlay.
Local markets in the French countrysideMorning visit to the medieval town of Noyers. Where you can walk through the cobbled streets enjoying the local market and discover the old ramparts and half timbered buildings from the 15th/16th centuries along the banks of the river Serein. Drive back to the "C'est La Vie" through fields of wheat and grazing animals for lunch and an afternoon cruise on the Burgundy Canal to Tanlay now lined by poplar trees, a perfect moment to put on your walking shoes and explore the towpath and small villages along the way. Dinner aboard.
Thursday: Sightseeing Chablis - Cruise to Flogny la chapelle
We take a morning cruise and pass through the old town of Tonnerre with buildings from many eras, including Roman and Medieval, before our afternoon visit to the town of Chablis, where you can taste some of the famous white wines of this region in one of their local cellars and enjoy a drive through vine yards which cover the hill sides for as far as the eye can see. Returning to the "C'est la Vie for another gourment dinner aboard
Friday: Sightseeing in Auxerre - Cruise to St Florentin
The historical town of Auxerre in BurgundyThis morning's cruise will take us to the town of St Florentin by early afternoon. After lunch drive to the town of Auxerre. On the banks of the river Yonne this historic town, first settled by the Romans boasts a Cathedral, an Abbey and a Church. With buildings dating back to medieval times this is the ideal place to stroll along its narrow streets and window shop or just sit and relax with a coffee in one of its many cafés reflecting on Napoleon, Joan of Arc or Charles VII who all passed through this elegant town. Return to the "C'est La Vie" for the Captain's Dinner, which ends your cruise in style.
Saturday: Return to Paris
After breakfast, you'll be chauffeured back to Paris for the end of the morning. We hope to see you again on the "C'est la Vie"!

Tanlay to Venarey les Laumes
Sunday- Tanlay
Guests are met at the **designated meeting point and transferred to the barge moored in Tanlay. A full crew Welcome Aboard with champagne and canapés. After time to settle into your cabin you will enjoy your first dinner on board and introduction to Burgundy’s excellent cuisine.
Monday- Tanlay to Lezinne
Wake to the aromas of ground coffee and French patisseries, enjoy a leisurely breakfast and morning cruise to Lezinne with the opportunity to cycle or walk into the picturesque 16th Century village of Saint Vinemer. After lunch we visit the 16th century Renaissance-style Chateau de Tanlay, nestling serenely within this picturesque village and also the 18th century Fosse Dionne. Dinner on board.
Tuesday- Lezinne to Ancy le Franc
After breakfast enjoy a lazy cruise up to Ancy le Franc with plenty of opportunity to wander or cycle ahead as the vessel ascends through the locks towards the beautiful 16th century Renaissance palace and gardens of Chateau d’Ancy le Franc. Lunch in a local auberge and then visit the vineyards and town of Chablis, dating back to Roman times. We enjoy a private wine tasting renowned for its Premier and Grand Cru wines popularized by Alexis Lichine in the 1950’s. Dinner on board.
Wednesday- Ancy le Franc to Ravieres
Morning visit to medieval Noyers sur Serein to admire the local produce, colours and delights of the wonderful market, or to wander the town ramparts in this, one of the most beautiful villages in France. We return to the barge and enjoy a gentle afternoon cruise past grazing Charolais cattle to Ravieres followed by a visit to the 16th century Renaissance palace and gardens of Chateau d’Ancy le Franc. Dinner on board.
Thursday- Ravieres to Montbard
Morning cruise, with excellent walking and cycling opportunities, to Montbard passing the Forges de Buffon. After lunch, we escort you to the exquisite World Heritage Unesco site of Abbayé de Fontenay founded by St Bernard in 1118. Representing a distinctive example of early Cistercian architecture and virtually intact, Fontenay allows an exceptional glimpse of early Cistercian life and industry with its peaceful gardens and ponds and fascinating cloisters, dormitories and scriptorium. Dinner on board.
Friday- Montbard to Venarey les Laumes
Morning cruise through woodlands and rolling fields, with great towpath biking and walking opportunities, past the tiny canal side villages of Nogent, Courcelles and Les Granges. This afternoon we enjoy a stroll around the hilltop village of Flavigny sur Ozerain, where the film ‘Chocolat’ was located. On the way from the summit of Mt Auxois, we look at Alesia, the last battle site between the Gaulles and Romans that took place in 52 BC. Also time to enjoy the town of Semur-en-Auxois. Captain’s Farewell Dinner on board.
Saturday- Venarey les Laumes
Disembark after breakfast and transfer to the **designated drop off point.

Gurgy to Chatel Censoir
Sunday- Gurgy
Guests are met at the **designated meeting point and transferred to the barge moored in Gurgy. Following a Champagne Welcome, you are free to explore or take a stroll along the banks of the River Yonne before returning for dinner on board.
Monday- Gurgy to Auxerre
Our morning cruise takes us past vineyard-clad hillsides to our rural mooring at Auxerre. The afternoon excursion is to Chablis, home of one of the most famous white wines in the world. A tasting in one of the town’s aged cellars will introduce you to some of the local Petit Chablis and Chablis wines. Dinner on board.
Tuesday- Auxerre to Vincelles
After breakfast, our excursion is to the medieval town of Auxerre. Originally the capital of Lower Burgundy, the town prides itself on its fine churches and particularly its magnificent cathedral. We then return to the barge for a cruise past vineyard-clad hillsides to the town of Vincelles. Dinner on board.
Wednesday- Vincelles to Accolay
This morning, we visit the charming 14th century medieval market village of Noyers one of the most beautiful villages in France, on an excursion through delightful countryside. In the afternoon we cruise through rich pasturelands past grazing Charolais cattle and the Saussois cliffs where an international climbing centre creates a spectacular setting. There will also be the opportunity to enjoy spectacular walks before dinner ashore
Thursday- Accolay to Mailly la Ville
In the morning we enjoy an excursion to the town of Vézelay, one of Burgundy’s most famous treasures with the Romanesque Basilica of St Mary Magdalene, craft shops and fine views of the surrounding countryside. Lunch on board followed by an afternoon cruise through the Yonne valley to arrive at Mailly la Ville. Dinner on board.
Friday- Mailly la Ville to Chatel Censoir
A morning cruise through beautiful countryside then takes us to Chatel Censoir . In the afternoon, we visit the Chateau of Bazoches, whose illustrious visitors included Richard the Lionheart and which was later remodeled by Maréchal Vauban. Captain’s Farewell Dinner on board.

Bonheur
For 2013 we are cruising the Burgundy Canal between Dijon the capital of Burgundy and the village of Pont d'Ouche situated in the beatiful Ouche valley.
Day 1 (arrival)
Guests are met at Dijon TGV railway station in the afternoon and taken by car to Bonheur, which is moored on the Canal de Bourgogne in the Port of Plombieres-Les-Dijon. Welcome drinks and dinner in the evening gives us the opportunity to chat about the coming weeks itinerary, while you gently unwind from your journey.
Day 2
This morning we leave Dijon behind us as we cruise out into the countryside towards the picturesque valley of the Ouche. This is a day of cruising where you can relax on board, watching the world go by, but should you wish, there are plenty of opportunities to disembark at one of the many locks to either walk or cycle and explore villages that we pass through. We moor at the quiet village of Pont de Pany for this evening. Tonight you eat ashore at a local restaurant at which we have reserved a table for you.
Day 3
This morning we take a drive by car into the historic town of Dijon, the capital of Burgundy. After a pleasant guided walk exploring the medieval quarter of the town, including the Ducal Palace and the famous Dijon mustard shop, you will have the opportunity to experience Dijon market day with the atmosphere of a French market at its best. We return to Bonheur for lunch and then this afternoon we take a leisurely cruise to the village of Gissey-sur-Ouche. This evening you have another opportunity to eat ashore at one of the restaurants that we have reserved for you.
Day 4
We have put today aside to explore a little further afield from the canal by car. In the morning we drive to the delightful town of Beaune, the historic wine capital of Burgundy. You will enjoy a visit to the famous Hotel Dieu, Hospice de Beaune built in 1446 and have the opportunity to stroll around and visit the shops. For lunch we have arranged for you to experience the hospitality of Olivier LeFlaive in the famous wine village of Puligny-Montrachet.During lunch (which is included in the charter price) you will sample 12 different wines including premier Cru and a Grand Cru wine. After lunch we will take the scenic drive over the hills and into the valley back to Bonheur. This evening you eat aboard.
Day 5
This morning we take a gentle cruise to the village of La Bussiere. After lunch aboard, we take a drive to the hilltop village of Chateauneuf-en-Auxois. This medieval village has a magnificent Chateau come fortress dating back to the 12th Century and was used by one of the Dukes of Burgundy with its high vantage point giving stunning views across the countryside. This evening we have made a reservation for you to eat at the Michelin starred restaurant of the Abbaye de La Bussiere, one of the highlights of the week. This beautiful estate has been transformed from a Cistercian Abbey into a wonderful hotel where you will dine in Style.
Day 6
This morning we cruise to the final village on our canal route called Pont d'Ouche. On this part of the canal we pass through small villages and stunning countryside. This afternoon after lunch aboard, we take a drive to the medieval chateau of Clos de Vougeot which is surrounded by vineyards. This Chateau is the headquarters of the Chavalier de Tastevin whose special label is awarded annually to the finest Cote d'Or vintages. After our tour of the Chateau we drive to the famous wine village of Nuits St George which has just celebrated its 800th anniversary and guests will have the opportunity for a wine tasting before we return to Bonheur. This evening, guests eat aboard.
Day 7
After a wonderful week, a leisurely breakfast and a sad farewell, guests are taken to Dijon TGV Railway Station in good time to catch their train.

Béziers to Carcassonne
Sunday - Béziers.
A champagne reception welcomes you on board and gives you a chance to meet the crew. Time permitting, enjoy your first cruising experience to the pretty village of Colombieres. Later that evening, enjoy your first dining experience on board.
Monday - Visit Abbaye de Fontfroide. Cruise to Capestang.
This morning visit l'Abbaye de Fontfroide, a Cistercian monastery founded in the 11th century. Now privately owned, the abbey has been lovingly restored with a well-kept garden and peaceful cloister. Return to the barge for lunch and then an afternoon cruise along the beautiful Canal du Midi to Capestang.
Tuesday - Tour Oppidum d'Enserune. Cruise to Le Somail
After breakfast enjoy a visit to Oppidum d'Enserune, a pre-Roman hill-top settlement and one of the most important archaeological sites in the region. The top of the hill affords a panoramic view of the pond of Montady drained in 1247 and transformed into a curious pattern of cultivation. On the way back to the boat we stop off at local wine producer for a tasting. Return to the barge for lunch followed by a relaxing afternoon taking in the grandeur and beauty of the Canal du Midi, with its fine locks, buildings and aqueducts, scarcely changed from their completion over 300 years ago.
Wednesday - Visit Narbonne and the market. Cruise to Homps.
This morning, experience the wonderful covered market in Narbonne with the chef and help choose what is on the menu for dinner! Narbonne is a lively Mediterranean city playing an important role as a wine-producing centre. The municipal, military and religious architecture, the river banks of the Robine and its shaded boulevards, all contribute to its charm. Enjoy lunch at a bistro just in front of the market and then return to the barge for an afternoon's cruise to the port at Homps.
Thursday -Visit Minerve. Cruise to Trebes.
After breakfast, visit Minerve, an old village on a limestone cliff, which dominates the vineyards below. Its now ruined castle was once a Cathar stronghold besieged and captured by Simon de Montfort. This village is full of history of days gone by. On the way back to the boat stop at Peyriac-Minervois for wine tasting. Return to the barge for lunch and then enjoy the ever changing views from the comfort of the deck, or perhaps walk or cycle along the tow path. Tonight we moor in the pretty town of Trebes.
Friday - Cruise to Carcassonne. Visit Carcassonne.
Finish the week with a tour of Europe's largest medieval fortress - Carcassonne. Explore the intricate fortifications of the two castellated walls, one inside the other, about a mile in circumference. The views from the battlements towards the Pyrenées are stunning. Visit the Cathedral remarkable for its stained glass rose windows, elegant Romanesque nave and Gothic transepts. Meanwhile the chef is busy preparing your farewell gala dinner on board.
Saturday - Carcassonne.
After breakfast disembark the boat for your onward travel arrangements.

Our Golf Itinerary from Guetin to Rogny is available on the Hirondelle is perfect for the golf enthusiast. The day to day itinerary described below is a typical cruise. However, on any one cruise the moorings may change and the places visited may vary depending on the season and guest preferences.
Sunday – Nevers. Moor in Pont Canal de Guétin
On arrival at Nevers you will be met by the Afloat in France guide who will escort you on your transfer to the barge which will be moored on the Canal Latéral à la Loire. A champagne reception is followed by an evening cruise on the canal. Back to our mooring for your first dining experience on board the boat.
Monday – Golf at Golf du Nivernais. Cruise to La Charité sur Loire
This morning your guide will transfer you to the wonderful nearby golf course at Bardonnay, an 18 hole course located very close to the famous Formal One Race Circuit. Over lunch the barge continues the cruise to La Charité-sur-Loire.
Tuesday – Golf at Vallee Germigny. Cruise to Ménétréol
After breakfast you will transfer to the beautiful golf course at St Hilare de Gondily, a lovely 9 hole course. Return to the barge in time for lunch while the barge continues its cruise from La Charité to tonight’s mooring at Ménétréol. From Menetreol you will be taken to visit a goat’s cheese farm for a tour and tasting of their excellent goat’s cheese.
Wednesday - Visit Sancerre. Cruise to Léré
After a relaxing morning cruise we will take a short drive to Sancerre, situated on an impressive hilltop west of the waterway. Here we have lunch, followed by a stroll around the town. We then stop for a private wine tasting at the fabulous 15th century Chateau Tracy, one of the most prestigious producers of the famous Pouilly Fume in the Loire, the Count himself introduces his wine.
Thursday - Golf at Golf Sancerrois. Cruise to Châtillon-sur-Loire
This morning you play the magnificent 18 hole golf course near Sancerre, this course borders the river Loire and has stunning views over the vineyards of Sancerre and Pouilly. There are lots of bunkers and water hazards to look out for. Return to the barge for lunch and continue your cruise through the beautiful scenery to Chatillon sur Loire.
Friday - Cruise to Rogny Les Sept Écluses. Golf at Domaine Vaugouard
On your last day of cruising the barge traverses the river Loire via the longest canal bridge in Europe connecting the Canal Latéral à la Loire to the Canal du Briare. After lunch we transfer to the golf course at Fontenay sur Loing, a hilly 18 hole course surrounded by forests and lakes, set within the grounds of a stunning castle which has now been transformed into a luxury hotel. Meanwhile the chef is busy preparing for the farewell gala dinner on board.

After breakfast disembark the barge.

Sunday – Paris to Dijon.
Depart Paris, Gare de Lyon, on the TGV train in the afternoon. On arrival at Dijon station you are met by the Afloat in France guide who escorts you on your transfer to Escommes where you board the barge for your cruise through Burgundy. A champagne reception welcomes you on board and gives you a chance to meet the crew. A cocktail cruise introduces you to the delights of cruising. Later that evening enjoy your first dining experience on board.
Monday – Golf. Cruise to Pont d’Ouche.
Visit Chateau de Pommard.
After breakfast, drive to Chateau de Chailly, this beautiful Chateau provides a fabulous back drop to their 18 hole golf course, or alternatively enjoy your first day cruising on the Canal de Bourgogne. Small-unspoiled villages and green, forested hills provide the traveler with exceptional views from the deck. This afternoon, visit the Château of Pommard, a stunning building dating from 1726 and surrounded by its own vineyard. You will have the chance to visit its exceptional cellar and sample its wines.
Tuesday – Cruise to La Bussière.
Visit Beaune and Golf.
Relax on-board this morning as the barge cruises towards the charming village of La Bussière. After another delicious lunch your guide escorts you to Beaune, capital of the Burgundy wine producing region, for a visit to the famous Hôtel-Dieu, Hospice de Beaune. Alternatively, play a round of golf at Levernois, just 10 minutes drive from Beaune. It is an 18 hole golf course with a par of 72, and has a practice range and a putting green. Tonight’s mooring is at another canal-side village, La Bussiere sur Ouche.
Wednesday - Cruise to Gissey.
Visit l’Abbaye de La Bussière.
Mid-morning, your guide takes you on a tour of l’Abbaye de la Bussière built in the 12th century under the guidance of the Cistercian monks from Citeaux. After a stroll in the grounds we have our lunch here. After lunch your guide takes you to visit Chateauneuf-en-Auxois a medieval hill-top village. This is followed by a tour of the stunning surrounding countryside, and the opportunity to see the entrance to the 2 mile long canal tunnel and the largest of the reservoirs which feed the Burgundy canal.
Thursday – Golf. Cruise to Fleurey-sur-Ouche.
Visit Clos de Vougeot.
This morning there is the chance to play golf in Dijon, there is an 18 hole course with a par of 72. This course is very well maintained, with reasonably flat terrain and has lovely views. The boat continues cruises through the Côte d’Or an area producing some of the world’s most famous wines. . After lunch, your guide takes you to visit “Clos de Vougeot”, a medieval château surrounded by vineyards. This is the headquarters of the Chevaliers du Tastevin, whose special label is awarded annually to the finest Côte d’Or vintages. On your way back to the barge, enjoy a wine tasting in Vougeot.
Friday - Visit Dijon.
Cruise to Dijon.
After breakfast, your guide takes you on a walking tour of Dijon, to visit the Ducal Palace, the market, and the Grey Poupon mustard shop. Return to the boat for lunch and the afternoon’s cruise. The barge moors for the night in Dijon’s Port du Canal, a short distance from the town centre. Meanwhile the chef is preparing a gala dinner for your last evening on board.
Saturday – Dijon to Paris.
After breakfast, disembark and transfer to Dijon station for your return on the TGV to Paris, Gare de Lyon. On arrival in Paris you are met by the Afloat in France representative who will assist you with your luggage.

Monday – Cruise to Rully. Visit Château de la Rochepot or Le Creusot Summer Bobsleigh.
A leisurely cruise on the Canal du Centre gives you a chance to savor the beauty of the French countryside, there are plenty of opportunities at the many locks to get off the barge and walk or cycle along the splendid tow path. Later, your guide takes you to La Rochepot for a tour of the beautifully restored 15th century castle with its stunning glazed tile roofs or alternatively visit the Summer Bobsleigh Park with it various runs and a pool. Return to the barge moored in Rully.
Tuesday - Cruise to Chalon-sur-Saône. Visit Givry Outward Bound Park.
Relax on board while the barge cruises the final section of the Canal du Centre before entering the last and very deep lock into the River Saône just north of Chalon-sur-Saône. The scenery changes from the close proximity of the canal banks to the expanse of this beautiful river. This afternoon enjoy an action afternoon at the Accro Branche – an outward bound park, there are several different levels, so fun for all the family. Challenge your climbing skills, as you climb high in the tree tops. Once back to Chalon perhaps take a walk in to town and discover its quaint antique shops, stunning Cathedral square and half timbered buildings. There is free time to enjoy the fine shops, or perhaps just to sit in one of the numerous pavement cafes enjoying an ice cream.
Wednesday - Cruise to St Jean de Losne. Visit Beaune Horse riding in Brazey.
A somewhat different cruising experience today, through the lovely valley of the River Saône to the town of Verdun sur Doubs. We then visit the wonderful town of Beaune where we have lunch, and afterwards we visit the famous Hotel-Dieu, Hospice de Beaune. The town with its tiny centre, has hardly changed physically down the years, a circular boulevard runs round its former ramparts, many of which still stand. Within, there is a dense maze of narrow old streets. Tonight’s mooring is at St Jean de Losne, the barging capital of France, take some time to stroll around the ports and see the many working barges and house boats that are moored here. A short distance from St Jean is the village of Brazey, where the family can enjoy some wonderful horse riding, enjoy trekking through the country side on horse back following the canal path or through the plains of the Saone valley.
Thursday - Cruise to Longecourt. Visit Dole Water Park.
This morning the barge leaves the river and enters the Burgundy Canal. Enjoy the chance to walk or cycle along the towpath. After a wonderful lunch on board, we visit Dole, a pretty town with an interesting history. There is a fantastic water park located just outside the town and here we enjoy an afternoon in the water! There are various slides and pools for all ages. The barge in moored tonight near Longecourt.
Friday - Cruise to Dijon. Visit Dijon. Roller Skating. Jungle Kid or Grotte de Beze. Magician.
Today your guide takes you on a walking tour of Dijon to visit the market, Ducal Palace, the Grey Poupon mustard shop, and covered food market. There is a roller skating park and go karts for the more adventurous. Also there is ‘Jungle Kid’ for smaller children, a covered area for climbing and adventure. Or perhaps you would prefer to visit the Caves at Beze, for an underground ‘mini’ cruise on a rowing boat, through the caves. Tonight, the barge moors in the port of Dijon. We finish the week with entertainment from a magician before dinner, marvel at his tricks and be amazed by his skill! Meanwhile the chef is busy on board producing your Farewell gala dinner on board.

After breakfast, drive to Chateau de Chailly, this beautiful Chateau provides a fabulous back drop to their 18 hole golf course, or alternatively enjoy your first day cruising on the Canal de Bourgogne. Small-unspoiled villages and green, forested hills provide the traveler with exceptional views from the deck. This afternoon, visit the Château of Pommard, a stunning building dating from 1726 and surrounded by its own vineyard. You will have the chance to visit its exceptional cellar and sample its wines.
Tuesday – Cruise to La Bussière.
Visit Beaune and Golf.
Relax on-board this morning as the barge cruises towards the charming village of La Bussière. After another delicious lunch your guide escorts you to Beaune, capital of the Burgundy wine producing region, for a visit to the famous Hôtel-Dieu, Hospice de Beaune. Alternatively, play a round of golf at Levernois, just 10 minutes drive from Beaune. It is an 18 hole golf course with a par of 72, and has a practice range and a putting green. Tonight’s mooring is at another canal-side village, La Bussiere sur Ouche.
Wednesday - Cruise to Gissey.
Visit l’Abbaye de La Bussière.
Mid-morning, your guide takes you on a tour of l’Abbaye de la Bussière built in the 12th century under the guidance of the Cistercian monks from Citeaux. After a stroll in the grounds we have our lunch here. After lunch your guide takes you to visit Chateauneuf-en-Auxois a medieval hill-top village. This is followed by a tour of the stunning surrounding countryside, and the opportunity to see the entrance to the 2 mile long canal tunnel and the largest of the reservoirs which feed the Burgundy canal.
Thursday – Golf. Cruise to Fleurey-sur-Ouche.
Visit Clos de Vougeot.
This morning there is the chance to play golf in Dijon, there is an 18 hole course with a par of 72. This course is very well maintained, with reasonably flat terrain and has lovely views. The boat continues cruises through the Côte d’Or an area producing some of the world’s most famous wines. . After lunch, your guide takes you to visit “Clos de Vougeot”, a medieval château surrounded by vineyards. This is the headquarters of the Chevaliers du Tastevin, whose special label is awarded annually to the finest Côte d’Or vintages. On your way back to the barge, enjoy a wine tasting in Vougeot.
Friday - Visit Dijon.
Cruise to Dijon.
After breakfast, your guide takes you on a walking tour of Dijon, to visit the Ducal Palace, the market, and the Grey Poupon mustard shop. Return to the boat for lunch and the afternoon’s cruise. The barge moors for the night in Dijon’s Port du Canal, a short distance from the town centre. Meanwhile the chef is preparing a gala dinner for your last evening on board.

A champagne reception gives you a chance to meet the crew. We then cast off from the mooring and enjoy a river cruise along the tranquil river Saone. A delicious four course dinner will be served with wonderful wines to match, followed by after dinner drink – weather permitting all served on the magnificent teak deck.
Monday - Cruise to Longecourt. Visit Clos de Vougeot with Jeep drive through the vines.
Leaving the River Saône behind, we now enter onto the Canal de Bourgogne through the first of many locks! Spend the morning enjoying your first cruising day on the flat plain from the river toward Dijon. After lunch, your guide takes you to the area of the ‘Côte d’Or’ ( In French meaning Gold Coast) planted with vines that produce some of the world’s most famous wines. Here we visit the “Clos de Vougeot”, a medieval château surrounded by vineyards. This is truly a magnificent Chateau and the headquarters of the Chevaliers du Tastevin, whose special label is awarded annually to the finest Côte d’Or vintages. We have arranged some fantastic World War II jeeps to take you through the vines to explore some of the small tracks that wind through this famous land for some exhilarating fun!
For those who have a little more energy, we can stop at a truffle producer and learn how the black diamonds grow and then how to find them;
We return to the Apres Tout for a well deserved refreshing cocktail!
Tuesday - Cruise to Dijon. Visit Dijon/Children’s activities.
This morning we visit Dijon, a wonderful town with a long and interesting history. As it is market day, the centre is thriving with traders selling their produce and shoppers meandering taking in the atmospheric feel of this magnificent city. There is plenty of time to shop in the city’s many chic boutiques or sit in a pavement café and watch the world go by. Later, we will visit the Grey Poupon mustard shop for a tasting of this famous product and then take a walk through the historic area of the town which will captivate you with its historical past, including the Ducal Palace. We can also arrange some great children’s activities such as go-carting, roller skating, water park and for younger children ‘Jungle Kids’. We return to the barge for lunch and an afternoon canal cruise into Dijon, where we moor for the evening.
Tonight, you must try a ‘Kir Royale’ made with local Cassis, a liqueur invented here in Dijon made from blackcurrants and mixed with the Burgundy Champagne equivalent named Cremant.
Wednesday - Cruise to Fleurey. Lunch Gevrey Chambertin at a wine makers. Route de Grand Cru or Horse riding for Children
Leaving Dijon behind we head to the valley of the Ouche. Enjoy a relaxing morning on board; there are many locks for dis-embarking to cycle or to walk. Late morning you transfer over the hillside and down through the vines to the charming village of Gevrey Chambertin. We are greeted by the owner of this prestigious Grand Crus wine makers, and here we have a splendid lunch on their terrace over looking their vines! During lunch Madame Drouhin Laroze (the owner) will present her wines. This is truly a very unique experience. After lunch, we are given a very informative private tour of the cellars. We then take a scenic drive along the famous ‘Route du Grand Crus’, Passing through many of the famous wine villages. There is a horse riding stables near by for any budding riders – this afternoon could be spent outside in the vines on horse back.
Thursday - Cruise to Gissey. Visit Beaune. Outward Bound tree climbing. Dinner at the Abbaye de la Bussiere
The morning is spent cruising through the lovely Ouche Valley, this is a truly spectacular part of the canal, small villages pass by, cows wander in the fields, and there is nature all around. There is a total feel of peace and tranquillity as we slowly cruise this magnificent canal. After another wonderful lunch, you are transferred to the delightful town of Beaune, the capital of the wine region of Burgundy. Enjoy a visit to the famous Hôtel-Dieu, Hospice de Beaune with its interesting history and magnificent tiled roof. After some free time for shopping or strolling in the pedestrian streets we have an optional appointment for a private wine tasting at the famous cellars of Joseph Drouhin, this tour is by invitation only. Or, we take a drive to Gevrey to the Accro Branche outward bound centre, where there are lots of wonderful tree climbing activities for all age groups. Later, we return to the barge for a refreshing cocktail and freshen up before one of the high lights of the week, a gourmet dinner at the stunning Abbaye de la Bussiere. This Relais & Chateaux property has been beautifully transformed from a Cistercian abbey into a fabulous hotel, set in architectural grounds where you will dine in style tonight.
Friday - Cruise to Pont d’Ouche. Visit Châteauneuf-en-Auxois or Wild life park.
Today enjoy the final stretch of this beautiful canal. We pass through several more locks until reaching our destination of the port at Pont D’Ouche. This afternoon we make a special private visit to an English artist of world renown, who has set up his gallery and workshop in a converted barn. His work is world class, and has been recently commissioned to create a piece of art to celebrate the Olympics in London. We are shown through the workshop, and explained how he makes his marvelous pieces of bronze sculptures many of which have been produced for the Queen of England, including the war memorial in London. We then drive up to Châteauneuf-en-Auxois, a medieval hill-top village steeped in History. This is a charming place with stunning views from all angles, of the surrounding countryside. Or visit the near by Wild Life park set in several acres of grounds with many different species of animals, reptiles and birds. Return to the Apres Tout for a gala dinner with wonderful wines to match and a fond farewell.

Enjoy a visit to the famous Hôtel-Dieu, Hospice de Beaune with its interesting history and magnificent tiled roof. Later, we will visit the Grey Poupon mustard shop for a tasting of this famous product and then take a walk through the historic area of the town which will captivate you with its historical past, including the Ducal Palace. Once back to the barge, perhaps try a ‘Kir Royale’ made with local Cassis, a liqueur invented here in Dijon made from blackcurrants and mixed with the Burgundy Champagne equivalent named Cremant. Friday – Cycle ride to the Abbaye de Citeaux. Cruise to St Jean. Lunch in Gevry Chambertin.
Enjoy a relaxing morning on board, as we cruise on the canal towards St Jean de Losne, the largest inland port in France. There is the final prepared cycling route once again through the forest, this time to the Abbaye de Citeaux where we purchase some of their famous cheese for tonight’s cheese board! Late morning you transfer to the charming village of Gevrey Chambertin, in the heart of vineyards. Here you are welcomed by Madame Drouhin Laroze, the owner of this prestigious ‘Grand Crus’ property. We have a splendid lunch on the terrace over looking the family’s vines while enjoying her choice of wines. This is truly a very unique experience. After lunch, we are given a very informative private tour of the cellars. We then take a scenic drive along the famous ‘Route du Grand Crus’, passing through many of the famous wine villages. We continue with the gourmet theme and visit a local truffle producer at his Chateau, near Nuits St George. Here, we learn all about this most valued mushroom and of course, purchase some of these delights as tonight, they will feature in the gala dinner! We return to the barge – by now moored on the beautiful River Saone – where we slip away from the mooring for a gentle cocktail cruise on this lovely river.

This morning you will start to discover the delights of this beautiful canal cruise, there are ample opportunities to disembark the barge at the many locks and walk or cycle the sections between each ‘ecluse’. The kitchen is now open for your first lesson! We start by preparing a traditional Quiche Lorraine learning how to make short crust pastry, also this morning you will prepare Cheese Gougeres, a Burgundy favorite that is served with evening cocktails. This afternoon we make a special private visit to an English artist of world renown, who has set up his gallery and workshop in a converted barn in a near by village. His work is world class, and he has been recently commissioned to create a piece of art to celebrate the Olympics in London. We are shown through the workshop, and here he explains how he makes his marvelous pieces of bronze sculptures, some of which have been produced for the Queen of England. We then drive up to Châteauneuf-en-Auxois, a medieval hill-top village steeped in history. This is a charming place with stunning views at every corner, and you can really appreciate from this height, all of the amazing surrounding countryside. We return to the Apres Tout for cocktails and dinner, which is moored in the picturesque village of Gissey.
Tuesday - Cruise to Fleurey Cookery lesson. Visit Beaune
The barge continues to cruise through the peaceful Ouche Valley, where time seems to have stood still over the centuries. A relaxing morning will be spent cruising on the canal, as the barge slowly cruises towards Fleurey. Our lesson today features fresh pasta – there is nothing better! We prepare ravioli filled with a light chicken and herb mousse, a light as air and truly delicious. After lunch served on the deck - weather permitting, we visit the delightful town of Beaune, the capital of the wine region of Burgundy. Enjoy a visit to the famous Hôtel-Dieu, Hospice de Beaune with its interesting history and magnificent tiled roof. There is a fabulous old fashioned food store in the centre of town, we include a visit here and purchase some of their wonderful treats! After some free time for shopping or strolling in the pedestrian streets we have an optional appointment for a private wine tasting at the famous cellars of Joseph Drouhin, this tour is by invitation only. Tonight we are moored in Fleurey.
Wednesday - Cruise to Dijon. Cookery lesson Visit Dijon. Dinner on shore
The Apres Tout continues cruising on the canal towards the city of Dijon. Today we are preparing a Burgundian favorite ‘escargots’ the famous snail! The best way to serve them is dripping in a garlic and herb butter which we make and then fill into the shells. Also this morning we are preparing a wonderful and visually exciting turkey, apricot and prune terrine served with a port and orange sauce. This afternoon we visit Dijon, a wonderful town with a long and interesting history. There is plenty of time to shop in the city’s many chic boutiques or sit in a pavement café and watch the world go by. Later, we will visit the Grey Poupon mustard shop for a tasting of this famous product and then take a walk through the historic area of the town which will captivate you with its historical past, including the Ducal Palace. Once back to the barge, perhaps try a ‘Kir Royale’ made with local Cassis, a liqueur invented here in Dijon made from blackcurrants and mixed with the Burgundy Champagne equivalent named Cremant. This evening dinner is taken on shore at a wonderful restaurant.
Thursday- Cruise to Longecourt. Cookery lesson Visit Clos de Vougeot and Jeep drive through the vines.
Cruising south away from Dijon, we now continue our journey along the Canal de Bourgogne through the flat plains towards the River Saone. For your cookery lesson today; we are putting the emphasis on desserts, and you will be preparing poached fruits with butterscotch sauce and a fresh fruit meringue pavlova. After lunch, your guide takes you to the area of the ‘Côte d’Or’ (In French meaning Gold Coast) planted with vines that produce some of the world’s most famous wines. Here we visit the “Clos de Vougeot”, a medieval château surrounded by vineyards. This is truly a magnificent Chateau and the headquarters of the Chevaliers du Tastevin, whose special label is awarded annually to the finest Côte d’Or vintages. We have arranged some fantastic World War II jeeps to take you through the vines to explore some of the small tracks that wind through this famous land for some exhilarating fun! Back to the barge moored in Longecourt for a refreshing drink followed by a delicious dinner.
Friday - Cruise to St Jean. Lunch in Gevry Chambertin. Truffle tasting and truffle lesson.
Enjoy a relaxing morning on board, as we cruise on the canal towards St Jean de Losne, the largest inland port in France. Late morning you transfer to the charming village of Gevrey Chambertin, in the heart of vineyards. Here you are welcomed by Madam Drouhin Laroze, the owner of this prestigious ‘Grand Crus’ property. We have a splendid lunch on the terrace over looking the family’s vines while enjoying her choice of wines. This is truly a very unique experience. After lunch, we are given a very informative private tour of the cellars. We then take a scenic drive along the famous ‘Route du Grand Crus’, Passing through many of the famous wine villages. We continue with the gourmet theme and visit a local truffle producer at his Chateau, near Nuits St George. Here, we learn all about this most valued mushroom and of course, purchase some of these delights as once back to the barge we will be preparing something special that will feature in the gala dinner tonight! We return to the barge – by now moored on the beautiful River Saone – where we slip away from the mooring for a gentle cocktail cruise on this lovely river.
Saturday – Depart the barge
After breakfast disembark and transfer to Paris with our private luxury transfer service.

Narbonne concentrates some very fine art treasures from its Cathedral, to the archaeological museum with some of the finest Roman wall paintings, the art museum with its 17th and 18th Century masters and its Oriental collection of the 19th Century. Round it up by visiting a friendly antique dealer whose friendliness is on par with his impeccable taste.
Gourmet Traveler:
Olives - wine - Muscat. This is a hedonist trilogy from the olives to be sampled at the Olibo Olive Oil Mill (one of the most prized in France) to the wines of Languedoc, now a force on the international scene. Languedoc, since Roman times, has intertwined its history with wine making-- the landscape of the entire region is modeled by it. We will visit top vineyards in the company of their owners taking in the Corbières, the Minervois and the St Chinian from grand domains to no less deserving smaller wine makers. This will be rounded up with the Muscat Petit Grain of St Jean de Minervois, the prime Muscat in France with Beaumes de Venise from Provence.
Cooking Demonstrations:
Our gourmet Provençal chef will enjoy demonstrating to you some of his specialities in the open plan kitchen on “Roi Soleil” - all to be taken with a trusty glass of wine in hand.
