The 8 passenger Anjodi is of classic Dutch design, specifically rebuilt to navigate the tree-lined, UNESCO World Heritage site, 300-year-old Canal du Midi. She has been completely re-furbished in the tasteful tradition of African hardwoods, hand-crafted panelling and shining brass. Anjodi ultimately creates a comfortable and charming ambience.

The well-planned accommodation offers a choice of four air-conditioned staterooms for 8 passengers with all full en-suite facilities and a choice of twin or double bed configuration.

The saloon and dining room feature comfortable sofas, books and music, and an always open inclusive bar. The sun deck is spacious and has a heated sunken spa pool, a perfect place to watch the sun set after dinner, during the warm Mediterranean evenings.

Guests are met at the designated meeting point and escorted by air-conditioned minibus to Anjodi, moored in the lakeside fishing village of Marseillan, enjoying a view over the oyster beds and home of Noilly Prat vermouth. Champagne welcome, followed perhaps by a relaxing stroll around this lovely village before dinner on board.

Marseillan to Portiragnes
This morning we cruise from Marseillan to Portiragnes through the nature reserve of Bagnas with potential sightings of flamingoes and other wildfowl After lunch on board, we visit Pezenas, the delightful 14th century capital of Languedoc mostly known for its associations with the French playwright Molière, who is said to have written many plays while staying there. Dinner on board.
 
Tuesday
Portiragnes to Beziers
After breakfast, we cruise further along the Canal du Midi to our mooring near Beziers, with plenty of opportunity to walk or cycle along the towpath. After lunch, we enjoy an informative winery tour and tasting at the 14th century Château de Perdiguier, famed for its frescoes and Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay wines. Dinner on board.
 
Wednesday
Beziers to Fonserannes
This morning’s excursion is to Narbonne, a Roman Mediterranean capital where the Visigoth monarchs once lived. We tour the Archbishop’s Palace, Cathedral and Via Domitia and explore the indoor market at the hub of this bustling town, where you will have time to shop or simply absorb the vibrant atmosphere. We return to the hotel barge for lunch and cross the aqueduct over the River Orb, before ascending the 7-lock flight of Fonserannes to moor above it for the evening. Dinner ashore tonight at a local restaurant in Beziers.

Fonserranes to Capestang
This morning we cruise along the shaded canal to Capestang, again with perfect cycling and walking opportunities. Following lunch we take an excursion to Minerve, the ancient capital of Minervois, which boasts a 12th century Cathar fort surrounded by deep limestone gorges. Besieged by Simon de Montfort in 1210, its hilltop location affords spectacular views. A fascinating recreation in miniature of the bloodthirsty Cathar rebellion and small museum complete the intriguing picture. We then return to Anjodi for an evening cruise to Pigasse. Dinner on board.

Capestang to Le Somail
In the morning we embark on our final cruise along the historic Canal du Midi to the delightful village of Le Somail. After lunch we visit Carcassonne. Dating back to the Gallo Roman era, this is the most complete medieval fortified city in existence today. With its 52 watchtowers, portcullis and extraordinary repertoire of defences, it resisted the many armies that tried to storm this Camelot setting. Captain's Farewell Dinner on board.

After breakfast, disembark Anjodi and transfer to the designated drop off point.

After breakfast we cruise to Portiragnes where the Canal du Midi is at its closest to the Mediterranean. For those who are feeling active, the beach is only 20 minutes away by bicycle.This afternoon, we enjoy an informative winery tour and tasting at the 14th century Château de Perdiguier, famed for its frescoes and Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay wines. Dinner on board.

Pigasse to Poilhes
After breakfast, we transfer to the Dinosaur Park and Museum in Meze, an open air museum with skeletons and realistic reconstructions. Even before you arrive you can see the head of the Brachiosaur skeleton, peering out above the treetops, which is the largest complete dinosaur skeleton in the world. Return to the hotel barge for a cruise along the shaded canal to Poilhes, with magnificent views of the Pyrenees. Dinner on board.

Poilhes to Beziers
This morning, we reach the worlds oldest canal tunnel at Malpas then descend the 7-lock flight of Fonserannes and across the aqueduct over the River Orb. After lunch we visit the underground world called the Limousis Caves. Originally dug out by an underground river, the cave, which is now dry, contains some superb concretions among which are the exceptional “Chandelier” which is a collection of white arborescent crystals and aragonite. See the stalactites and stalagmites in the well lit caves and luster, 4 meters high and 10 meters diameter, composed of calcite flowers. It also served as shelter for pre historic man, cave bears and people through the ages. Dinner at a local auberge.

Beziers to Portiragnes
After breakfast we cruise to Portiragnes, where the Canal du Midi is at its closest to the Mediterranean, while guests can enjoy a cycle or walk along the footpaths or enjoy a soak in the spa pool as the world goes by. After lunch we explore the wonderful Oppidum d’Enserune, a pre Roman hill-top settlement with Greek and Iberian excavations dating from 600BC. Children love exploring all the underground passages under the settlement. Maybe tonight you can enjoy an evening swim in the nearby Med! Dinner on board.

Portiragnes to Marseillan
Anjodi sets off through the famous round lock and then the nature reserve of Bagnas, with potential sightings of flamingos and other wild fowl before heading out onto the inland saltwater lake of Thau, past the oyster beds. After mooring in the fishing village of Marseillan, we visit famous Cap d’Agde on the Mediterranean, with golden sands and blue sea or for the more active “Aqualand” park with swimming pools, slides, wave machines and flumes. Captain’s Farewell Dinner on board.

Enjoy Cassoulet in Carcassonne before golf at Golf de Carcassonne. Challenging water obstacles and bunkers make this a tactical golf course for players of all levels. This morning we play golf at Lamalou-les-Bains Golf Course, located at the foot of Mt Carooux, by the River Orb. A morning visit to Narbonne, a Roman Mediterranean capital where the Visigoth monarchs once lived. Enjoy the Archbishops Palace and Horreum. After lunch, we cross the aqueduct over the River Orb and then ascend the 7-lock flight of Fonseranes before reaching the worlds oldest canal tunnel at Malpas and then arrive at the picturesque village of Poilhes for our nights mooring. Dinner at a local auberge.

 After breakfast we cruise to Portiragnes where the Canal du Midi is at its closest to the Mediterranean. After lunch we golf at Golf de St Thomas. This course offers various types of play: woods, hills, lakes and on some fairways a more classic approach. Return to the hotel barge and enjoy an aperitif before dinner on board.

Anjodi sets off through the famous round lock and then the nature reserve of Bagnas, with potential sightings of flamingos and other wild fowl before heading out onto the inland saltwater lake of Thau, past the oyster beds. After mooring in the fishing village of Marseillan, we transfer to Cap d'Agde. This golf course is located in a colourful landscape created by one of the world's most renowned architects, Ronald Fream. An outstanding and inventive course whose greens are jealously protected by bunkers that you will never forget. Captains Farewell Dinner on board. (18 holes, 6,301m, Par 72).

During a visit to the state of the art winery at Mas de Chevaliere, created by the Burgundian winemaker Michel Laroche, we taste a selection of their delicious wines. Lunch and the descent of the lock flight follow, crossing the aqueduct over the River Orb. Dinner on board.

Before returning to the hotel barge, we pay a visit to the Chateau de Pech Redon to taste the wonderfully complex velvety wines produced from the nearby Montagne de la Clape. After exploring the winding mediaeval streets of the old Greco/Phoenician fishing port of Agde, we sail through the famous round lock and onto the inland saltwater lake of Thau, with its oyster beds. Mooring in the fishing village of Marseillan, we visit Pezenas, a delightful village mostly famous for its associations with the famous French play write Moliere. Later we visit the acclaimed Pomerol wine co-operative, Gold Medal winners and leading lights in the Languedoc. Captain's Farewell Dinner aboard.
